Fr Domenico Zanre - Parish Priest of St Columba's
"Scotland's newest Catholic Church, St. Columba's in Tower Road, Culloden, Inverness, welcomes its first Parish Priest.
Fr. Domenico Zanre was introduced to the congregation at St. Columba's Culloden by the Bishop of Aberdeen, the Rt. Rev. Hugh Gilbert OSB.
Fr. Zanre originally comes from Peterhead. Before studying for the priesthood, he worked for a number of years as a Lecturer in Italian Language and Literature at the University of Glasgow. He trained for the priesthood in Rome at the Pontifical Scots College, and obtained degrees in Philosophy and Theology from the prestigious Jesuit-run Gregorian University, as well as a further Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, whose alumni include Pope John Paul II.
After his ordination in St. Mary's Cathedral Aberdeen, he spent a year as Assistant Priest at St. Mary's, Huntly Street, Inverness, before being seconded as Private Secretary to the Papal Nuncio in London. For the last six months, he has been looking after the parish of St. Anne (Thurso) and St. Joachim (Wick)."
